Player of the Year at the WSOP

April 23rd, 2009, 11:43 am

I don’t know about you, but I always assumed that the Main Event at the WSOP of poker determined the true poker and casino poker champion. After all, it was televised, it had publicity, and it was highly dramatic. Little did I know, however, that my thoughts were entirely misplaced due to playing poker online. While the main event may determine the world’s best poker player in the eyes of the general public, it does not serve the same function for people in the poker community.

In fact, the main event actually has no bearing whatsoever on determining the player of the year at the WSOP. The player of the year award is given based on an amount of points accumulated by a player throughout all the different rounds of the tournament. As an interesting comment on the role of the common man at the WSOP, only ‘open; events are eligible for points, That means if the general public cannot enter it, it doesn’t count towards a players points total.

As for my two cents on the matter, I think that an accumulation in points over a variety of different games is a much more accurate reflection of a well rounded player than a fantastic play in the Main Event. It shows that they are predictably good at a wide range of poker games, instead of just being a one trick pony with No Limit Holdem.

Graduation Cap

The graduation regalia is made up using different pieces, each with its own significance. Some of the pieces known to make the regalia are like the graduation gown, graduation cap, hood, sash or stole. The graduation cap is worn by both the members of staff and the students at the graduation ceremony and it is usually in black. Some institutions however, have started using different colors for their caps and some of the common ones are like beige and brown. The colors of the graduation cap are normally used to represent the different courses that were studied by the individuals who were graduating. The colors could also be used to differentiate the different levels of education; diploma, degree and masters. Some prominent features of the graduation cap are like the tassel, elastic band and a square base. The square base helps to give the cap its shape. The tassel is basically a set of strands held together at the top. After the ceremony students usually turn the tassel onto the other side. One can choose a cap with free tassels or with ones that are braided. On of the best places one get a cap is from internet stores as one can get the caps in different varieties.

HTML: A Beginners Guide

Title: HTML: A Beginners Guide

Author: Oliver Peck

Article: HTML, otherwise known as Hyper Text Mark-up Language, is the language of the internet. It can be used to create all kinds of web pages and designs but can be very complicated to understand. This article will explain the very basics of using HTML.

HTML is made up of tags, which are recognised by computers. The starting tag is always and the end tag is . In between goes everything else. Notice the / in the end tag, this signals the end of the html.

When writing text you can choose the alignment of the text by using

, or and again once the text is written you end with
, and . To choose font you use the following tag, (or whatever face font you choose – Verdana is the most easily read on the internet). Then you would end with .

If I were to write ‘My name is Oliver’ in html with a verdana font with a centre alignment I would write the following:

My name is Oliver

Notice that the font end tag comes first and then the center end tag last.

Html doesn’t understand the enter key, which would normally create a sentence on a new line. To do this you need the tag. Anything you type after this will appear on the line below.

Hyperlinks are links that when you click on them will take you to another web page. These are very useful and are used widely on the internet. Hyperlinks appear blue and underlined on a web page.

Hyperlink tags are the following:

This link would say “Click HERE to visit Google.com” and on clicking on it would take you to google.com homepage. You can include any words you like such as “Click here” or “Visit Google”. Any web URL can be placed in the tag also. Notice the end tag is simply in this case.

You can also have links that allow people to email you directly from the click of a button. You could have something like “Click HERE to send me an email” or “Any questions, contact us HERE”, or whatever you choose.

The tag in this case is this:

Again, notice the end tag is simply .

This article explains some of the very basics of html, enough to write a paragraph or two. When I first started to learn html I was very quickly confused and had no idea what I was doing! One product I highly recommend is One Hour HTML.

I used this software and I was completely blown away! Within one hour I went from not even knowing what html stood for to being able to write whole web pages and that is no joke!

This software is really that good and will have you writing in html within the hour!

To learn how to get this software copy and paste the following link into your browser and it will take you right there: http://ollie24.e14050912.hop.clickbank.net

Thank you for reading this article and I hope it has been of some help.

Achieving Limitless Creativity

April 18th, 2009, 5:55 am

There are many out there who wish to help individuals achieve limitless creativity. Such a noble endeavor to help fellow man; some creativity coaches are indeed working to set out simple principles which can help any individual get to that space. They are stead fast in their mission. One such gentleman I recently met was Dr. Nick Arrizza. He said;

“It is my hope to bring individuals back to an experience of their true and limitless creative abilities and to their human essence. Sadly this has been lost and much to the detriment of the human endeavour.”

I have rarely run across such a man on a mission to heal the world. So I decided to read his many articles and step-by-step methodology about how one might go about this. He has several papers on these websiteas;

http://www.telecoaching4U.com

http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nick_Arrizza

Well indeed. This is one major issue and important factor, which has impeded human civilization, a repeating one in fact which needs to end for us to get to the next step, I could not agree more. There are other factors as well. As society gets more complex without a major increase in biological evolution, we are stuck with an animal inside trying to mask our innate tendencies and still function as a whole and contiguous grouping. Problems arise when we train humans to do, instead of think so they can operate and function in the present period of incremental complexity. Some cannot do it. Not because they do not have the genetic material to do it, but because we have pre-conditioned them to be worker bees instead of thinking souls. Indeed it is necessary to have folks monitor the flows of the system without screwing it up using a protocol of known safety and reliability in the infrastructures and flows of the system. But we also need those who create the system, revamp it and realign it when it is too unnecessarily complex and fails to serve us. For instance: Health Care, legal, government leadership, educational system, etc, etc. These are opinions and observations entirely of my own, upon reading Dr. Nick Arrizza’s works. It might behoove you to read his works to see where your mindset is.

Dr. Arrizza is an interesting person with some simple formulas which could help millions if not billions of people in the world come to a better understanding of their surroundings and minds and in doing so be more creative, productive and achieve such happiness as is their innate desire to achieve. At least this is the feeling I get when I read his articles. If he can do that for the world; Imagine what he can do for you? Think about it.

Sacred Space, Sacred Time

April 18th, 2009, 5:46 am

We all need space, we all need time to ourselves. In Exodus3:15- Word of God:When the Lord saw that Moses was coming closer, he called him from the middle of the bush and said:

“Moses, Moses”, he answered, “Yes, here I am”God said, ” Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals because you are standing on holy ground.”

Indeed, one little corner, a fraction of time that you allow yourself can do wonders to your being, to get in touch with your inner self and give expression to your faith. A space that allows you to reflect onyour life, on your day, on what tomorrow may bring. A small place where you can shed a tear, or breathe a sigh of relief, quieten a troubled mind or savor a few victories.

Sacred Space

It is a place to reflect and contemplate on what is important to you, to allow you to connect with your inner self , without interference, and in solitude. It could be as simple as a table top, a corner of the bedroom, a place just for you to enjoy few precious moments alone. No, it does not require a whole room, or many hours. Is there a small table top, a spot on the dresser, an isolated corner , an idle spot that collects clutter and dust? If you are on the road a lot, would you not want to carry something to evoke that feeling of connectedness?

Joseph Campbell has this to say about sacred time, sacred space:You must have room or a certain hour of the day or so where you do not know what is in the morning paper. A place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are or might be.

At first you might think nothing is happening. But,if you have a sacred space and take advantage of it and use it everyday, something will happen.Where to begin? The word “sacred,” evokes a feeling of something holy, serene, worthy of reverence.Any space can be a sacred space, prepare yourselfas you stand on Holy ground!

The Elements

Consider incorporating the elements when creating a sacred space. What thoughts , what feelings, what sensations do the four elements evoke in your being?

Earth represents foundation, stability, feel the power and beauty of nature, of Mother Earth, the physical world. Clear the debris and clutter of the chosen area , thus removing negative energies that come with clutter and dirt. A small potted plant would be a nice touch.

Water influences our conscious and sub-conscious forces that act on our lives. Water seeks to heal and nurture those around it. Consider a goblet or a crystal bowl filled with water. Remember to keep this fresh. This also gives a mild humidifying effect on the room. Or, a water fountain would be an asset for this element.

Fire is the element that projects self-expression, creativity and enthusiasm. Without fire, there can be no radiance, no conviction, no passion nor expression. A glowing candle fulfills this element, a white candle represents all the colors, the color of the candle reflects the energy created in the sacred space. Green candle for luck and finance, red for passion and courage, and so forth.

Air this element establishes itself in the realm of the intellect. It is through the process of thinking that ideas develop, it is a means of communication. Knowledge is gained and shared through this element. It enables one to reach out to the mental self.Enjoy the gentle breeze, winter, spring, summer or fall.

Open a window to let some air in, if this is not possible, a mechanical fan would do.The elements is just one aspect of enhancing your sacred space. No matter how limited the space is, you can make room for an altar, incorporating the four elements with it.

The surface need not be elaborate, it is the intention that counts. Others will require enough room to draw a sacred ” circle”, but this is not the intent of this article.

Gathering Materials:

Thorough planning to incorporate all the materials needed is important and worth the effort. A small table top covered with an elegant lace, add votive candles, a goblet filled with water and the bottom lined with stones or crystals, fresh flowers, a potted plant, a gentle breeze from a window or electric fan, a statue of your God/dess, or whatever deity you believe in. Picture frames depicting what is precious to you, the smell of burning incense, a water fountain( if there is enough room) This is your sacred space, you can add or remove objects as you see fit.

Try to consider the seasons and celebrations that come your way. Pussy willows mark the coming of Spring, fresh flowers of the season are inviting. A bowl of fresh fruits bring These gestures mean paying homage to the beauty and bounty of Mother Earth.

Do you follow the cycles of the Moon? Offerings vary as the moon waxes and wanes, an added touch as you try to connect with the Universe . Do you travel often? If there is room for cosmetics, there is certainly room for items to set up a “sacred” space. A votive candle, your favorite crystal, picture of loved ones, prayer beads , your favorite incense , or a bottle of aromatic oil. How much room would this take?

Christmas would a colorful theme for the altar, enhance your altar with objects that define what Christmas means to you.

What next?

After setting up the altar, make the dedication of this sacred space, start using this at a set time ,to start the day, to make daily affirmations. Spending time in this space raisesthe vibration of the area, the energy around it. What thoughts come to your family and friends when they look at your altar?

Excerpt:

Make your space very special, a place where you are reminded ofyour Divinity, your connection to Spirit.Whenever you see it, you will know it is your temple, your sanctuary, where you can relax and take care of yourself. Each of us carries our sacred space within us and our challenge is to live from it throughout our life’s journey, throughout our earth walk.

Twylah Nitsch

Sacred Time

Time- the most precious commodity available to man, yet, many of us forget that time lost is gone forever.”I don’t have time ” is a very common excuse Allow yourself sacred time- a moment of no pressure, no rules,no obligations. A time to yourself, to discover something rare and beautiful. Listen to your Inner self, this takes time, but eventually, you will feel connected to your deepest awareness.

Thomas Moore in his book Re-Enchantment of Everyday Life writes:

A few moments of silence may be all the meditation we need at times. Our homes could have a little space for withdrawal and quiet…A cluttered mind has trouble sorting out priorities, tends to be careless, throws caution to the wind, it operates on a “crisis” mode. It is difficult to get it to slow down, much less, quieten it.Take a moment each day, in your sacred space and pamper yourself with sacred time. a time to meditate, a time to reflect, a time to contemplate. This is a moment of peace and quiet.

Take a moment to reflect on your life, what makes you happy? What inspires you? Give yourself a pat on the backfor all your achievements. Do not forget to give thanks to your God/ess for all the blessings in your life.Make time, allow yourself this luxury of a time to yourself.

You hear these words a lot :Take a deep breathe ” Why not add to this, take the time to enjoy the process of deep breathing,a few seconds, a minute or longer. Fill your lungs with fresh air, enjoy a burst of energy and as you exhale, let go of the negative feeling that is draining you.

Sacred time is flexible .A walk down the street, in the woods, down the country road, a brief moment in a quiet corner of the garden, or as you take your first sip of coffee in the morning- simple activities that add up to precious time with yourself.

As you allow yourself this sacred time, you will gradually feel calmness, peace and happiness. These are very welcome quests, I assure you.Hopefully, this will help you from feeling edgy sometimes over trifles.Yes, trivial things, events get magnified in a mind that has not experienced a “sacred” time.Do not feel you are being selfish when you allow yourself preciousfew minutes. Think of it as a time to rejuvenate sagging energy and a time to calm down, time to relieve stress and time to get centered and focused. You will end up offering those around you a more relaxed and calmer person, even insightful, ready to look at things from a different perspective, a more positive one. Sacred space and sacred time is within us, it is with us wherever we go.

Creating space and making time highlights the importance of sacred space and sacred time, to sanctify ,to bring out the core of the inner self.

Vodafone has introduced a new unlimited download package for mobilebroadband users. The package is the first of its kind to be launched in the UK and Vodafone’s competitors could be forced to come out with similar deals to preserve market share.

The current packages available in the market provide much lesser value than the Vodafone one, although it is subject to fair usage. For example, a typical £15 per month package comes with a 3GB download limit. Higher download limit packages, such as 10GB or 15GB, come at much higher prices. It is almost certain that the customers will be attracted to the £18 per month plus VAT Vodafone deal, especially because at 7.2Mb, the company’s mobile broadband service also offers one of the fastest speeds in the UK.

Vodafone is offering a lot of flexibility in terms of contract period. You can go for a 12, 18 or 24-month contract, or even opt for a 1-month contract on a rolling basis. Moreover, for all contracts longer than 18 months, the company is offering a free dongle to the subscribers.

It has often been observed that flat fee deals do not last too long in the market, as the economics eventually does not work out for the providers. Thus, if you are looking for a new mobile broadband package, it would be wise to go for the Vodafone deal before it disappears from the market.

The virtually forgotten and , possibly, best piece of physical fitness equipment for the young mother, or new dad, is the baby jogger stroller. One of the absolute easiest forms of exercise for the common mortal is just walking. In Truth, any kind of motion is exercise. Nonetheless, recent mums and daddies oftentimes seem to realise a mediocre time juggling a full workday with bringing up of the little tike.

Most of the time, people do not view a baby jogger stroller, I think because a baby jogger is not marketed as a piece of physical fitness machine, is the baby jogger stroller. A baby jogger stroller can allow the new father, or the new mother, to escape the house and revel in some invigorating air, while simultaneously finding some much-needed exercise. Youngsters normally love to go out for a stroll.

Rather than investing in a gym membership just to utilize the treadmill, you ought to think about using a baby jogger stroller to achieve your primary workout needs. I’m not saying that a gym membership is futile. Everyone knows that you require mixture in your physical exercise program to maintain your program’s efficacy. Even So, I have personally seen so many people not get their daily work out because they just cannot make it to the gymnasium. Individuals sometimes have trouble finding a babysitter or they fail to rely upon the babysitters offered by the gym.

What a baby jogger stroller can do is permit you to get the physical exercise you need to be able to preserve your current condition level, and feel sucure in knowing that your baby is safe. Why not think about buying a baby jogger stroller now.

Thank you to all of our professional educators who dedicate themselves to our children! We know how difficult it can be working with ADHD children, so here are your teacher tips for the week, brought to you by the ADHD Information Library and ADDinSchool.com. This is a sampling of over 500 classroom interventions for your use at http://www.ADDinSchool.com.

Here are some tips on organizing your ADHD students. Remember, the best interventions are the ones that will help all of your students be more successful, not just the ADHD students.

Few ADD or ADHD kids are naturally well organized. Most are space-cadets. They are often well known for taking two hours to do a twenty minute assignment, and then forgetting to turn it in the next day (Hint: it really IS in their backpack). Please take the extra six seconds required to make sure that you ADD ADHD students have actually turned in their work.

Write schedule and timelines on the board each day. Provide due dates for assignments each day. Divide longer assignments into smaller sections and provide due dates or times for the completion of each section.

Your ADD ADHD students will function better when able to anticipate times requiring increased concentration. A visual representation of the day’s schedule will provide another opportunity to internalize classroom routine.

Hopefully these will help the ADHD students in your classroom to be more successful. You can learn more about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder at the ADHD Information Library.
