Google Aiming to Strengthen its Activities in the Localised Advertising Space

The Mountain-View California based company Google Inc. is famous all over the world for its search engine. However, its activities have ventured far beyond searching and it is now a strong competitor in many other fields. Nevertheless, local recommendations and advertising have been a sore point for the company so far.
Google appears to be strengthening its hold in this sector by planning to acquire a local business reviews internet site, Yelp. Considering the expanding demand for social networking sites and recommendation and for mobile phone applications that help in locating places, the acquisition of Yelp can be a big booster for Google.
Google has followed a policy of taking over new and innovative businesses for expanding its extensive range of activities. In furtherance of the same, Google has acquired more than 50 companies in the last nine years, ranging from mobile software businesses to video and VoIP ventures.
Now, Google has declared that it will attempt to acquire AdMob, an advertising company that was started around four years ago. AdMob sells various advertisements that have been specifically designed for the purpose of mobile phones.
