Do You Use Algebra?

June 22nd, 2010, 3:56 pm

It is algebra that we employ to get our daily things done. We are a kind that forever keeps counting, measuring, dividing, and multiplying.

History of Algebra

Invented in the first millennium BC, algebra has its roots in the middle-east. The ancient geniuses applied algebra for solving day-to-day problems while the Asian or rather Chinese counterpart applied geometry for the same purpose

The Nature of Algebra

Algebra is not just for solving formulas, it helps, simplifying rational expressions, and converting fractions to decimals, algebra has a much greater body of knowledge and applicability. Since this view has been understood, the education system pushes us to learn algebra from the beginning of our pupil life.

Algebra I

The pupils are given an intro in this study course to numbers, solving linear equations , graphing systems of linear equations , graphing linear inequalities , laws of exponents, resolving fractional equations, and factoring polynomials. This course positions the groundwork for the rest of the sophisticated algebra waiting to be explored in the next two levels.
If a pupil is keen on learning algebra down to its roots, then this is the most principal study course.

Algebra II

Once the students are competent with Algebra I concepts, Algebra II can be taken up for widening the spectrum of this fabulous section of mathematics. There are two views of Algebra II; emphasizing more on the topics learned in Algebra I and foundation to new concepts. When it comes to the new introductions, adding and subtracting matrices, quadratic functions, resolving exponential equations, probability and statistics are notable.
In this plane of study, pupils are supposed to stress more on the fundamental concepts.

College Algebra

This is one of the most key levels of learning Algebra with virtually no new topic presented. I assume it is rather funny, but this is what mathematics is. Do you know why mathematics is called the queen of all sciences ? That’s because of the irregular nature of maths!

How to get assistance on Algebra?

There are many methods and tools accessible for getting aid for Algebra disciplines. The first and the foremost crucial source is an Algebra tutor from whom you can get help and assistance.
In addition to the above methods, students should never undervalue the use of Algebra software system that is especially designed to solve algebraic problems with informative steps. This software really brings insight in to Algebraic procedures of solving equations, by allowing pupils to simply watch and learn through exercises.

Felecia Bonnet had a promising career in French academia until two years ago. That was when she accepted a teaching position at the Reinhard Van Gelder Institut fr Anthropologie und Archologie at the Universitt des Rheins near Basel, Switzerland. The institute, founded by eminent Dutch archaeologist Dr. Ernst Voorst, is named for the legendary Dr. Reinhard Van Gelder, whose work in the North Sea and Swiss Alps drew attention to previously unstudied aspects of European prehistory.

Now Professor Bonnet and her mentor, Dr. Voorst, have announced an astonishing discovery that is sure to set the European anthropological and archaeological community abuzz for years to come. A team of experts led by Dr. Voorst has excavated a grave site in a well-hidden part of the Black Forest region they dubbed the “golden wood”. The burial contained only one body, a female, and has been dated to approximately 10,000 BCE. Professor Bonnet, who holds the Chair of Rhine Valley Studies at the Van Gelder Institute, hinted that the body may not be either Neanderthal or modern Human.

The team has not yet released samples for DNA analysis, citing the transition in their work to studying a nearby previously unsuspected ancient village. Called the “City in the Trees”, the village — also dated to approximately 10,000 BCE — is believed by the scientists to be the home of the grave’s occupant. They call her the Princess of the Golden Wood.

This is not the first time Dr. Voorst has stunned the world with a spectacular prehistoric discovery in the Rhine valley. In 2007 Voorst and his colleague Reinhard Van Gelder announced that twin fortresses opposed each other in an ancient war. After a brief period of acclaim, the scientists found themselves facing a horde of critics who questioned the validity of their conclusions, since no graves or human remains had accompanied their findings.

Voorst is bracing for a new round of skepticism but he expects the Princess of the Golden Wood will help silence or at least blunt some of the critics who have questioned his work. Read more at this site.

Snakeheads have some pretty terrible nicknames such as Frankenfish. They have gotten a lot of media attention lately since they found a breeding population in a pond in Maryland. They have since been found living in other waters in southern USA but are still not to be considered established in any area. This is largely due to massive government work to keep them from establishing themselves.

The fear for snakeheads has its basis in the fact that they are ferocious predators that can swallow fish of half their own size. This has meant that many now fear that Snakeheads could do massive damage to the eco systems if the where ever to establish themselves in the US. A result of this fear is the ban to import snakeheads that was imposed 2003. This has however not stopped live snakeheads from being available in Asian food markets and the aquarium trade.

They are originally found in Africa and South East Asia where they are appreciated food sources. Snakeheads vary in size from very small to very large. The largest species can reach over one yard (almost one meter) in length. Snakeheads differ from many other fishes due to the fact that they breathe air by using something called a labyrinth which enables them to consume oxygen from the atmosphere. This means that they can live for long periods on land as long as they can stay moist. They use this ability to walk to new areas to live and feed in. Snakeheads drown if they can’t access the surface to get air.

They are popular aquarium fishes and many aquarists are opposing the decision to ban snakeheads and believe that snakehead import for the aquarium trade should be allowed. They believe that import at the very least should be permitted in colder states where snakeheads can’t survive in the wild. They have a point in this believe since snakeheads re unable to survive in most areas in the USA due to the fact that they need warm water to survive. Allowing snakehead import in some states will however make it harder to enforce the ban in the states where they could survive which could serve to justify the nation wide ban.

There is no doubt that the Snakeheads has triggered fear, myths and controversy in the USA

South Plainfield, New Jersey, January 2006 – Dallas Contracting Co., Inc., a specialized contractor providing demolition services, equipment salvage, wrecking, onsite concrete crushing and used/surplus equipment sales to various industries recently completed the demolition of a former dry cleaners in Northern New Jersey.

The site was formerly a dry cleaners and consisted of two attached buildings that comprised a total footprint of over 20,000 square feet. Dallas Contracting Co., Inc.’s (Dallas Contracting) scope included the total demolition of the buildings, removal of first floor slabs and the onsite crushing of all concrete and masonry materials.

The salvage of several pieces of equipment was conducted prior to any demolition. Dallas Contracting was able to salvage and sell used electrical equipment including breakers, motor starters, etc. as well as a small air compressor.

The building interiors were then gutted of all furniture and debris. This was accomplished utilizing a skid steer and several laborers.

Once the building interiors had been gutted back to the structural frame, total demolition commenced utilizing a Komatsu PC-300 Excavator mounted with a grapple attachment. Materials were separated into debris, recyclables and metals. Debris disposed properly offsite, metals were sent offsite for recycling and concrete, masonry and brick were crushed onsite.

Concrete, brick, masonry and asphalt were crushed onsite into 1 inch or smaller material using Dallas’s Eagle Crusher Company, Inc. UltraMax 1000-15CV Plant. Dallas Contracting has owned this unit for over four year and was extremely pleased with its production on this project. Crushed materials were utilized to backfill the basement area.

The project was completed in about 2 weeks without incident or injury.

Could the secret of the Star of Bethlehem lie with Jupiter and Venus?

But possibly no other planetary grouping can be equivalent to that of the two most twinkling planets Venus and Jupiter for the explanation that we seek. And if we acquire the only famed explanation of the Star literally, as given in St. Matthew, then what we genuinely postulate is the appearance of not hardly one, but two “stars.” The original appearance would have been encountered well in advance of the Magis arrival in Bethlehem, and the other at the ending of their long journey.

In Hellenistic star divination, Jupiter was the power planet and Regulus (in the constellation Leo) was the power star. As they traveled from Jerusalem to Bethlehem, the star “went before” the magi and then “stood over” the site where Jesus lived. In astrological renderings, these articulates are supposed to refer to receding motion and to stationing, i.e., Jupiter looked to reverse path for a time, then halted, and ultimately resumed its normal advance. In 3-2 BC, there was a series of seven connectives, including three between Jupiter and Regulus and a strikingly close conjunction between Jupiter and Venus nearby Regulus on June 17, 2 BC. “The fusion of two planets would have been a wonderful and awe-inspiring event” – according to any astronomers.

Others have purported a nexus between a double eclipse of Jupiter by the moon in 6 BC in Aries and the Star of Bethlehem, particularly the second occultation on April 17. This case was quite close to the sun and would have been trying to detect, even with a small telescope, which had not yet been invented. Occultations of planets by the moon are rather common, but an astrologer to Roman Emperor Constantine wrote that an eclipse of Jupiter in Aries was a sign of the birth of a divine king.

“When the majestic star of Zeus, the planet Jupiter, was in the east this was the most potent time to confer kingships. What Is More, the Sun was in Aries where it is animated. And the Moon was in very close co-occurrence with Jupiter in Aries.”

Rotate with a Gentle Breeze

November 6th, 2009, 3:39 pm

It will also rotate with a gentle breeze which will help you achieve better efficiency when compared to a horizontal turbine. The problem with the vertical wind turbine is that a horizontal turbine will generate more power for the same amount of wind. They don produce as much power, but they can still generate electricity when the wind isn strong enough to turn a used horizontal wind turbine. It is possible to build your own fully functional system, from scratch and install it, for under $250. This will perform just as well as any professionally installed job. All of the extra cost of professional installation comes from the labour costs. For a few hours of work over a weekend, you can save yourself over $2500 on installation costs, and that figure doesn even include the savings you will make on your power bill. Wind turbines are another good option for powering your home using alternative energy. Much like solar, they are expensive to have built and installed by professionals, but can be fitted on the cheap by yourself. The experts suggest simply remembering how the switch goes to off will yield a lot more profit than investment in generator. All the hall of famers and all stars insist a homeowner derives far more benefit from new, state-of-the-art appliances and compact fluorescent light bulbs than from a residential wind generator. When you consider wind turbines for homes…Certified windsmiths speak passionately about large-scale installations of wind generators, and single-house installations just inspire scorn and derision: “Farmhouse, rural cabin? Those may be different stories,” they qualify. When the winderati speak enthusiastically, authoritatively about wind turbines for homes, they describe skillfully designed, well-situated wind farms, installed with craftsmens punctilious attention to microscopic details.

Why You Should Learn Algebra?

October 12th, 2009, 6:41 pm

Algebra is an area of mathematics that is often presented to pupils in Jr. High. As a matter of fact, many students find algebra as a tough subject area to understand. Algebra is one of the complicated branches of mathematics that takes the student through a study of structure, relation and quantity.

Base Methods Employed in Algebra

Although ‘variables’ is one of the often used terms in computer science, this is first introduced in algebra. This is often used when adding and subtracting radicals . When adding or subtracting radicals the radicals must be the same order before you add or subtract them.

You can take the frustration out of finding the least common denominator by listing the multiples of each denominator and dividing by 2,3,4, and so on. After that you should look at the smallest number. An example is multiples of 5 are 10, 15, 20, 30. Multiples of 6 are 12, 18, 24, 30, and multiples of 15 are 30, 45, 60. So in this example, 30 (5 in to 6) is the smallest number which is common to both the number lists.
If you are supposed to simplify a fraction, it can be done easily by finding a common factor in the numerator and denominator. A common factor is going to be a number that will evenly divide into both numbers. An example would be 3 is a common factor for 6 and 12. Three will equally divide into 6 and into 12. Two being a common factor for 4 and 14 is another example for this. The same division procedure needs to be repeatedly executed until there are no common factors left. This can also be done by finding the greatest common factor of both the numerator and the denominator. You will divide the numerator and the denominator by the greatest common factor instead of the common factor.

Getting Good with Algebra

Sometime you might find difficulties getting along with algebra and can’t seem to find the solution you need. In this case, an algebra problem solver, typically a software, will be an ideal resolution for getting aid. With one of these computer software you will have the chance to input your figures and your problem will be solved straightaway in an informative way (including the steps). Having access to an algebra problem solver software system can mean the difference in passing or failing. Most pupils cannot afford a tutor and they are rarely around when you need them anyway. With an algebra software program you will have access to the answers you need, anytime you need them.

Mesotheliomawill show a few primary symptoms. The main symptom of pleural mesothelioma is a lack of breath as a consequence of pleural effusion ” fluid being built up in the pleura, or membrane, encompassing the lung. Another common symptomis chest pain because the chest wall is being attacked by the tumor. Additional symptoms include night sweats, weight loss and exhaustion.

The most common sign of patients with peritoneal mesothelioma, which originates in the abdomen, is the swelling of the abdomen because of fluid accumulation (ascites), bowel obstruction, and stomach pain.

Its vital to know that these symptoms could be caused by a myriad of diseases or conditions. But if you have experienced any of these symptoms and have had asbestos exposure, you should see your doctor.

Mesothelioma cancer is difficult to diagnose, because less serious conditions also cause similar symptoms. These symptoms include:

  • Having trouble breathing
  • Chest or lower back pain associated with an excess of fluid in the pleura
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Raspy voice
  • Having trouble swallowing
  • Coughing blood

Do not attempt self-diagnosis. One suffering from any of the above symptoms should see a doctor and remain calm. A biopsy is the primary way the condition is confirmed. A pathologist takes a small tissue sample from the suspected area and performs an examination that will result in a very accurate diagnosis. Biopsies are generally not painful.

CT scans (Computed Tomography) are an option to avoid a biopsy. This is an X-ray procedure where a scanner is moved around the body to snap cross-sectional pictures. Once in a while, a dye is ingested by the patient to help define the images. CT scans have an advantage over biopsies by being easier and non-invasive, and they are recognized as being effective in diagnosis. Beliefs vary whether a biopsy or scan is more cost-effective. If there are irregularities, a biopsy may be needed on top of the CT scan to confirm whether or not the irregularity is a tumor, and if thats the case, if its malignant or benign. Pleural mesothelioma can also be diagnosed by looking for cancer cells in a sample of fluid from the pleura.

Mesothelioma can also be screened and then diagnosed by any of these methods. Patients who may think they are at risk but do not display any symptoms are typically screened, to make sure they are not in danger or to catch the cancer as early as possible. People who need to be screened include those with a history of asbestos exposure..

Is Algebra Waste of Time?

Algebra as a Scientific Study

Algebra scientific discipline is the branch of mathematics that is concerned about the study of structure, relation, and quantity. Algebra handles working with numbers, symbols, sets of elements and also vectors as in linear algebra. You can count on algebra as one of the most potent branches of mathematics, if not the most central. Algebra includes classes such as Linear algebra, Universal algebra and Algebraic geometry.

Require Help in Studying Algebra?

Many software applications have come to the market in hope of helping students to develop the ability at solving algebraic problems . Nearly all types of algebraic problems can be figured out using these software applications because they support and aid to work around different classes of equations, formulas and inequalities. If you’ve been struggling to solve quadric, simultaneous, exponential or radical and linear equations , you need not worry any further. These software most probably will contain an algebraic tutorial and a wizard too; Moreover, algebra calculators facilitate a lot of algebraic functions for students learning mathematics.

Algebra in a Wider Scope

Some students always wonder why we study algebra; they can see no good reason behind it. Well, if we were to talk about benefits of algebra, then it has both direct and indirect benefits, which I think, algebra students should be aware of. The indirect benefit of studying algebra could be looked at as of help in working the mind in an configured model. As for the direct benefit, algebra has a good deal of uses in different sciences and organizational streams.

In reality, algebraic applications are used around us, all the time such as in financial markets etc, for instance in robotics research or aerospace applications. It is also used, in various science researches like physics, quantum mechanics, Informatics and even in the military; one such aspects which will be considered briefly in this article is the algebra applications in programming.

Algebra Used in Programming

Relative algebra constructs were the basis for the relational database concept. Also, easy algebra was used in constructing of complex XML models and building XML database management systems. Furthermore, programming languages have been developed for solving algebraic expressions and formulas, like RPL which stands for ROM-based Procedural Language or ALF-Algebraic Logic Functional programming language. Many other advanced programming languages developed for the aim of solving algebraic problems as AML-Algebraic Modeling Language, where this language describes the complicated problem, like compound optimization problems, then calls particular external algorithms to solve the problem.
