Duke to Testify to Congress Poker Pro and vocalized proponent of the game Annie Duke is set to speak in front of the House of Representatives on July 21st, 2010. Speaking on behalf of the Poker Player’s Alliance, Duke will speak on behalf of the 2006 law called the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The argument: That this law is depriving American citizens of their right to choose whether or not they wish to play poker online. In a way it’s true, although playing online poker in the US isn’t currently illegal, it has become harder and harder for players to deposit money in their online accounts, many resorting to less than legitimate means to fund their hobby. Ms. Duke’s speech will be part of a concurrent effort to bolster Barney Frank’s newly introduced legislation that will repeal the UIGEA and instead regulate the US markets and reopen online poker back up to the masses without them having to jump through loop holes to get on their favorite sites. The current speculation is that Everest Poker telecharger gambling will eventually make a full force entry into the US market as a regulated trade, and the talks by Duke and Frank will serve to clarify the situation for the Financial Budgeting Committee which will then mark up the bill and give it a final vote to go to the floor. I like it; getting closer all the time.
